In the Stillness of the Night 2In the Stillness of the Night 2Beautiful sunset at Manatee Beach, Anna Maria Island

It was a quiet and peaceful night as I watched a beautiful sunset over the Gulf of Mexico from Anna Maria Island, Florida. The colors in the sky changed from warm and vivid to pastel as the sun went down. Some of my photos from that night tell a story. What stories do you see? This is what I saw. In the first photo a young man ponders life as he watches the sunset in solitude. The beach is quiet and peaceful offering him a beautiful ending to his day and giving him hope for tomorrow. As I photographed him from a distance I was wondering, "What is he thinking?" and "What is happening in his life right now?". He sat on the beach a long time watching the entire sunset.

In the next photo a couple sits together on the white powdery sand watching the sunset after having a delightful picnic. Their chair and hat still rest near the picnic table shaded by a tree. As they sat close to each other on the beach they looked ready to handle the future day together. The sunset turned into soft pastel colors while they enjoyed each other's presence.

Photos like these inspire me to think about life and how each new day brings a new beginning. We can imagine different stories for the people in these images: some with happiness and others with pain. Watching a beautiful sunset can bring hope for tomorrow.

As I edited the colors and lighting in these photos I tried to create the mood of each story. In the photo below I enhanced the rays of the sun.
